In late 2023, we were sought after by the neighbor of one of our longest Garden Care clients, who had been watching our work for years. His daughter was moving in from another state and her newly purchased home needed some professional updates with the landscaping.
We assessed the current state of the landscaping and started with the most immediate need of transplants and tidying. We are now keeping it beautiful and weed-free year round, as well as swapping the front planters every season.

Our Maintenance Approach
Step 1) Remove all specimens planted incorrectly
Immediately upon arrival, we noticed a pair of small Green Giant Arborvitaes, indicating they were fairly recently installed, flanking each side of the front walkway. These trees will get very large and need to be moved to a space big enough to accommodate their size. We installed new buckthorn in their place, which will grow into a nice size for a front entry.
Step 2) Remove all Weeds and Debris
Once we had moved the plants that needed relocation and installed new ones, we began cleaning up all of the unwanted weeds. There were many volunteer trees and weeds throughout the landscape. We removed all organic debris and volunteers.
Step 3) Prune hard all shrubs and work on training
Many of the perennial shrubs were way overgrown. We pruned them as hard as the season would allow, and have been working on training them to the appropriate size, ever since. We limbed up any shrub too large but salvageable. We removed all the dead out of the perennials to allow for new growth and they filled in beautifully the following Spring.
Step 4) Finishing Touches
After every cleanup or installation, we always make sure the area is top dressed with fresh mulch and weed preventative. During the season, we apply mulch twice at this residence to keep it looking fresh all year long. This home has two front porch planters that we swap seasonally all year long.
